Overview

Begin the day with one of Cape Town’s most iconic and energising experiences as you ascend Table Mountain. Guests may choose to glide effortlessly to the summit by cable car, watching the city, coastline and ocean slowly unfold below, or take on the rewarding hike to the top, a steady climb that offers a strong sense of achievement. From the summit, sweeping panoramic views stretch across the City Bowl, Atlantic Seaboard and distant mountain ranges. Wander quieter paths away from the main viewpoints, keeping an eye out for curious dassies, soaring birds of prey and the remarkable plant life unique to this mountain. A pause for freshly brewed coffee and baked treats allows time to refuel before descending back to sea level.

From the mountain, the focus shifts to the vibrant streets of the City Bowl, where culture, heritage and everyday life intersect. A guided walk leads through the colourful neighbourhood of the Bo Kaap, rich with Cape Malay history, traditions and stories that give the area its distinctive character. Continue into the leafy Company Gardens, a historic green heart of the city framed by landmarks such as Parliament and St George’s Cathedral. Along the way, uncover the layered history of Cape Town, touching on moments that shaped the country while also discovering the creativity and resilience that define the city today.

The afternoon brings a change of pace as you swap walking shoes for bicycles and head to the Sea Point Promenade. Cycling alongside locals, this lively oceanfront stretch offers fresh sea air, constant movement and expansive views across the Atlantic. Stop along the route to explore interactive public art installations that reflect themes of conservation, identity and social history, including works that honour Nelson Mandela and highlight important environmental causes. The promenade captures the rhythm of daily life in Cape Town, with joggers, families and street performers sharing the space.

Continue to the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront for a visit to the Watershed Market, where Cape Town’s contemporary design scene comes to life. Browse township inspired artworks, handcrafted jewellery and innovative designs, many linked to community upliftment initiatives and local makers.

As the day draws to a close, settle into a favourite local hangout for a relaxed drink with a view. Whether overlooking the city or tucked into a lively urban corner, it is the perfect way to reflect on a day defined by movement, culture and active discovery.

  • Tour Activities: Unpacked

Explore - The Iconic Table Mountain (hike or cable car)
The Old Saying: “the journey is the destination” certainly applies to hiking up our iconic Mountain which overlooks the heart of the city. Those wishing to explore the mountain’s lush reserve by foot, will discover its true majesty off the beaten path and realize that it is well worth the effort. There are a number of hikes to choose from and your guide will talk you through the option best suited for the day.

Platteklip Gorge is the most frequented path up the mountain, but there is also Nature's Ravine, Kasteelport and Skeleton Gorge. Expect at least four hours to get this one under your belt - although this is dependent on your fitness and on the chosen hike of the day. For those not keen to hike up, choose to take the cable car instead and enjoy a 360' view of the city as you ascend. Once atop the mountain, we will enjoy a lighter hike to one of the scenic outlook spots such as Maclears Beacon. When you are ready, take the cable car back down, to explore the rest of the city.
